United and Delta Just Landed Their First Non-Stop Flights to Sicily
Briefly

United Airlines and Delta Air Lines have launched new direct flights from New York City to Sicily, significantly reducing travel time to the Mediterranean. United's flights connect Newark to Palermo three times a week, while Delta's service from JFK to Catania runs daily. Travelers can choose flights based on proximity to their desired destinations as well as airline product quality; United's business class features superior seats, whereas Delta's older configuration does not reflect its premium style. The use of older Boeing 767s is attributed to a surge in transatlantic travel and cost efficiencies.
For business class passengers, United offers a better in-flight product with lie-flat Polaris seats, while Delta's seats are older and less representative of its premium offerings.
Both airlines are using older Boeing 767s for their new flights, as this is a less expensive gamble amidst the transatlantic travel boom.
