Barbara Barker: 1999 Knicks, including Larry Johnson, are excited about the current team
Patrick Ewing, John Starks, Allan Houston, Larry Johnson, and Latrell Sprewell watch Jalen Brunson lead the Knicks to the NBA Finals. Larry Johnson, a power forward on the 1999 Knicks, said the run has been great and that he believed in the team since the prior year. He said a loss to Indiana hurt but that the team was still on track for something great. The current Knicks are connected to the 1999 squad through Rick Brunson, Jalen Brunson’s father, who was a reserve on the 1999 team. Johnson recalled Jalen running around the locker room as a toddler and also recalled Steph Curry doing the same when Johnson and Dell Curry were teammates in Charlotte.
