Letitia James Made Big Error in Trump Fraud Case, Retired Judge Tells MSNBC: You Just Don't Do That'

An appeals court threw out the $500 million penalty imposed by Judge Arthur Engoron while affirming that the Trump Organization engaged in business fraud. The court preserved injunctive relief that limits Donald Trump and Trump Organization officers from certain business activities in New York. Donald Trump declared TOTAL VICTORY on Truth Social and reiterated claims of a political witch hunt. Retired Judge George Grasso criticized Attorney General Letitia James for campaigning against Trump and warned against targeted prosecutorial rhetoric. Attorney General James said the appellate ruling affirmed the trial court's fraud finding and that she will seek review by the Court of Appeals to protect New Yorkers.

James issued a statement Thursday maintaining that the Appellate Division, First Judicial Department of the New York State Supreme Court, today affirmed the well-supported finding of the trial court: Donald Trump, his company, and two of his children are liable for fraud. The court upheld the injunctive relief we won, limiting Donald Trump and the Trump Organization officers' ability to do business in New York.
