Jack Hughes missed over a month of NHL action after a fluke hand injury suffered at a team dinner. He returned December 21 against the Buffalo Sabres and scored a goal in his comeback. The New Jersey Devils hosted celebrity attendees including Paul Skenes and Livvy Dunne, who were announced to the crowd, and pop musician Tate McRae, who was spotted by a fan. Skenes is a 23-year-old Pittsburgh Pirates ace and National League Cy Young winner. Dunne is a Westwood, New Jersey native, former LSU gymnast and 2025 Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover model. McRae is an NHL fan and acquaintance of Hughes.
