The United Nations has criticized the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) for failing to deliver aid safely, causing major humanitarian operations to stall. Jens Laerke, spokesperson for the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, stated that the GHF is not fulfilling its role properly, as aid is not reaching those in need securely. Major aid groups have refused to work with the GHF due to concerns it prioritizes Israeli military needs. The situation worsens with ongoing violence in Gaza and a recent communications blackout affecting residents.
"GHF, I think it's fair to say, has been, from a principled humanitarian standpoint, a failure," Laerke told reporters in Geneva on Friday.
"They are not doing what a humanitarian operation should do, which is providing aid to people where they are, in a safe and secure manner."
