Experience: I've made the longest chain of chewing-gum wrappers in the world
Briefly

The article recounts the journey of a collector who developed a passion for making paper chains from chewing-gum wrappers during his childhood. Inspired by Guinness World Records, he eventually broke the record for the longest gum wrapper chain in 1994, measuring over 12,105 feet. This feat was ignited by a competitive drive after noticing a rival record holder. With support from his wife and Wrigley's supply of wrappers, he surpassed the previous record and achieved his childhood dream of being featured in the Guinness World Records.
I was fascinated by the Guinness Book of Records and Ripley's Believe It Or Not! I would memorise the records and amaze my friends by quoting them.
Suddenly, all the kids in my neighbourhood were saving their gum wrappers for me to add to my chain.
Deborah nudged me and said: You'd better do something about that. My competitive nature kicked in.
I blew past the 7,400ft record and reached 10,000ft, ultimately becoming the Guinness World Record holder for the longest gum wrapper chain.
