During a recent diving trip off Florida's coast, Kristina Scott discovered a remarkable 6-inch megalodon shark tooth while engaged in fossil diving. Having collected approximately 100 megalodon teeth over three years, she noted that this tooth surpasses her previous record of 4 inches. The odds of finding such a large tooth are slim, as only 1% of megalodon teeth discovered reach 6 inches. Megalodon, an enormous species of shark that existed millions of years ago, is celebrated for its size, being three times larger than today’s great white sharks.
After I pulled this one up, I knew I had something every other fossil diver dreams about.
I looked up how rare it is to find this size. 1% of all Megalodon shark teeth found are 6 inches.
