The N.C. Department of Information Technology has introduced a $17 million Digital Opportunity grant program, aiming to improve North Carolinians' access to digital devices and skills. Administered by NCDIT's Office of Digital Opportunity, the initiative seeks to bolster economic development by equipping residents with essential technology and skills for the digital era. It features two tracks focused on enhancing digital skills and increasing computer ownership. Eligible applicants include local governments, nonprofits, educational institutions, and tribal entities, promoting broad community engagement in this significant initiative.
"All North Carolinians need the computers and skills to access high-speed internet and use it safely and effectively," said NCDIT Secretary and State Chief Information Officer Teena Piccione. "This program will help ensure that every resident of our state can thrive in today's digital economy and build their skills through online resources."
