The inaugural 'One Town One Voice' concert will occur on May 25 at the Dean Crowe Theatre in Athlone, featuring over 20 choirs with nearly 400 singers from various nationalities. This event aims to foster community and solidarity among residents, especially immigrants, showcasing the rich cultural tapestry of Ireland. The initiative, which began in Fermoy, has grown significantly, emphasizing the importance of togetherness in local communities. National coordinator Natasha Muldoon encourages towns to form similar groups to promote kindness and unity.
One of the groups taking part is the Fermoy International Choir which was founded to promote respect and solidarity through music and to help those new to Ireland to make friends and settle in their new community.
We would urge other towns to look at setting up groups too. Now more than ever we need people in communities across Ireland coming together to show solidarity and kindness with everyone in their community.
