""I picked her up that afternoon, just as a surprise, and she came walking out of school totally clueless," Brooks, 39, tells TODAY. "I did a double take when I saw her shirt.""
""When I asked her if she'd actually read it, she looked at me like I was crazy," Brooks recalls. "She said, 'No, I just grabbed it - I didn't turn on my light this morning.' Then she finally looked down and went, 'Oh my gosh!'""
""She goes, 'It's fine, Mom. Nobody reads people's shirts anymore, and half of it's in cursive, so no one can even read it,'" Brooks says. "I couldn't even argue with that!""
""I was honestly shocked that I didn't hear from a teacher or a counselor telling me to come pick up my kid!" she says, with a laugh."
A Georgia mother of six, Krystina Brooks, discovered her 15-year-old daughter Alyssa had worn a hand-me-down shirt announcing a pregnancy. The shirt belonged to Brooks' sister, who had used it for her own pregnancy announcement, and it ended up in Alyssa's closet after donations and laundry. Alyssa grabbed the shirt in a morning rush and did not read the message. When Brooks picked her up from school she noticed the message, but no staff or students commented. The aunt warned more pregnancy-themed shirts might have been passed along.
