Animal rescue workers found 40 Belgian Malinois confined in an overcrowded and filthy apartment in Queens, NYC. Authorities reported the dogs had likely never experienced basic comforts like grass or sunlight. Rescuers discovered them in cramped spaces with limited air and light. As a result, a criminal investigation was launched against the pet owner, who had to surrender the dogs after eviction. The Malinois are being assessed for adoption potential, while the agency faces a high volume of animals in need of homes.
The agency pointed out it does have plenty of pups to adopt right away, and is currently waiving fees for dogs over 40 pounds.
These dogs have reportedly lived in total confinement for their entire lives. We found full-grown Malinois hidden in cabinets and crammed behind furniture.
