Bye, bye, old friend': Ted, the dog from Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing, has died aged 13

"Ted was a much-loved family pet as well as a treasured companion to Paul and Bob on Gone Fishing. He took fame in his little stride and loved nothing better than messing around on the riverbanks, nicking Jammie Dodgers from Bob and bait from Paul."

"So very, very sad. Lovely Ted, the best companion and the greatest little chum. Going to miss him so much and away, boss."

"Bye bye Ted, old friend. He wasn't a dog, he was a species all of his own. He's gone to the great briefcase emporium in the sky. We will really miss you mate."

Ted, a patterdale terrier mix, has died, confirmed by the BBC. He joined Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse on their fishing series since 2020. Lisa Clark, the executive producer and Ted's owner, expressed that he was a cherished companion and will be greatly missed. Mortimer and Whitehouse shared their sadness, recalling Ted as a unique friend. Ted will appear in the upcoming ninth series of the show and had previously released a bestselling book, A Pawtobiography, in 2024.
