In a tragic incident at Bryce Canyon National Park, a cat named Mirage survived a 380-foot fall that resulted in the deaths of her owners, Matthew Nannen and Bailee Crane. The couple was visiting the park when they fell near Inspiration Point, and Mirage was found nearby the next day, suffering only minor injuries. Despite the fall, she was in remarkably good health and was taken to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary for care. The sanctuary plans to seek a relative of the deceased to take in Mirage and ensure her well-being thereafter.
Mirage, who is estimated to be 12 years old, was found by hikers...in remarkably good condition near the bodies of her guardians, as the deputies confirmed.
The fortunate feline only suffered two fractured canine teeth and a few fractured ribs - but miraculously "seemed to have weathered the fall fairly well," according to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary.
Nannen and Crane appeared to be living out of a U-Haul and recently came to Utah from Arizona, with their last known permanent residence being in Florida.
Best Friends Animal Sanctuary will seek a relative of the deceased to take in Mirage and will seek an adoption home if that effort fails.
