Aware of poor conditions and the mile-long icy trek that awaited them, Patterson rescue workers arrived to the park with a utility task vehicle (UTV). The Putnam County Technical Rescue Team assisted with their UTV's, bringing specialized rope rescue equipment."
"Patterson Fire Department Captain Greco was carefully lowered down the cliff on a rope. After over two hours of being stuck on a tiny, cold and wet ledge, Rudy jumped eagerly into Captain Greco's lap. The two were hauled back up the cliff to safety, none the worse for the ordeal."
A 14-month-old dog named Rudy fell 15 feet down a sheer cliff face in Patterson, New York, becoming trapped on a small rock ledge inches from the rushing Quaker Brook waterfall. The Patterson Fire Department, assisted by the Putnam County Technical Rescue Team, Putnam Lake FD, and Brewster FD, coordinated a complex rescue operation. Despite challenging conditions including high water flow and icy terrain, Captain Greco was lowered down the cliff on a rope. After more than two hours on the cold, wet ledge, Rudy jumped into the captain's lap and both were safely hauled back up. The dog emerged unharmed from the ordeal.
