SFSPCA and Macy's Union Square team up for the 39th year for window display pet adoptions
""We have done this event for 39 years. In 39 years, it's totaled over 10,000 animals being sent home. What an amazing number, those are all lives of animals that have homes now. We have a goal of reaching over 500 adoptions, so hopefully folks are going to help us reach that," said Aeris Velasco, Assistant Manager of Adoptions and Client Care at SFSPCA."
"The SFSPCA makes it easy to adopt at any one of their San Francisco locations. New pet parents need to be 18 years old, have a valid ID and show proof of residency. "It is so easy to adopt, and we want to make sure we take away any barriers to adoptions. Everything else is a conversation with you and an adoption counselor, which includes a meet and greet with your potential candidate for adoption," expressed Velasco."
The San Francisco SPCA continues a 39-year live window adoption display at Macy's Union Square, aiming to find homes for 500 animals. Any animal older than five months is available under a name-your-price policy so adopters can contribute what they can. The program has placed over 10,000 animals in homes across its history and serves as a holiday tradition for many visitors. New adopters must be at least 18, show a valid ID and proof of residency. Staff and volunteers provide meet-and-greets, adoption counseling, post-adoption check-ins and ongoing resources. More information is available on the SFSPCA website.
