On Saturday, Pakistan's armed forces announced that Indian missile attacks had targeted three air bases, including one near Islamabad. Military officials reported that the majority of these missiles were successfully intercepted by Pakistani air defense systems and that those that reached their targets failed to inflict damage. Lt. Gen. Ahmad Sharif accused India of severe aggression, asserting that all assets of the Pakistan Air Force were operational. He indicated that Pakistan had retrieved electronic signatures of the missiles to determine their origin and warned of an impending response to India's actions.
"India, with its naked aggression, has attacked with missiles," said Lt. Gen. Ahmad Sharif in a video broadcast live by Pakistani state television.
He said all Pakistan Air Force assets were operational and claimed that Pakistan had retrieved electronic signatures of the missiles which reveal where they were fired from.
"Now you just wait for our response," he warned, emphasizing Pakistan's readiness to retaliate against the attacks.
A military spokesperson said the majority of Indian missiles had been intercepted by Pakistani air defense systems and that those that did make it through failed to hit their targets.
