Darius Slay, a 35-year-old veteran cornerback, announced his retirement from the NFL after 13 seasons. He expressed gratitude for the game's role in supporting his family and stated readiness for a new life chapter. Slay was claimed by the Buffalo Bills on waivers in December after the Pittsburgh Steelers released him, but he chose not to report while contemplating his future. During his final season with the Steelers, he appeared in 10 games, starting nine, recording three passes defensed, one fumble recovery, and 36 tackles. His career included a Super Bowl victory with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2024. Slay was a six-time Pro Bowler and first-team All-Pro in 2017, accumulating 28 interceptions, 163 passes defended, and 655 tackles across his career that began with the Detroit Lions in 2013.
