Steve Buell Takes Down World Series of Poker Grand Victoria Casino Main Event
Briefly

Steve Buell celebrated the most significant victory of his poker career on April 14, 2025, winning the WSOP Circuit Grand Victoria Casino main event. Outlasting 637 participants, Buell earned $175,684, marking his highest win to date and raising his career earnings over $1.7 million. Known for his determination, Buell had previously come close in other tournaments but finally clinched a major title. The event featured a total prize pool of $965,055, with many prominent players making it to the final stages.
"It's been so close with a lot of mains, and other big tournaments. I've been getting a lot of sevenths, a lot of fourths, and it just feels great to close one out. A big one no less," he told reporters after coming out on top.
The strong turnout resulted in a prize pool of $965,055, which meant the guarantee was cleared by more than $215,000.
Buell's previous rings came in a $400 mystery bounty event at the Horseshoe Council Bluffs stop last year and a $400 double-stack event at the 2018 stop at Potawatomi Casino.
The final day of this event began with six players remaining and Steve Wangler in the lead. Buell won a big pot of Wangler early to send him tumbling down the leaderboard.
