
Wimbledon plans to propose creating a new player council during meetings with leading player representatives at Roland Garros next week. Tim Henman has held talks with top players, including representatives of the WTA Players’ Council, and Wimbledon officials will meet player agents at the French Open. Some players may attend depending on schedules, with Jannik Sinner’s representative Alex Vittur confirmed. Grand slam representatives have previously refused to discuss a player council until organisers address demands for a higher share of revenue for players and increased welfare contributions such as pension funds. Wimbledon will reaffirm commitments to growing the sport and increasing prize money, with this year’s Championships prize fund due to be announced on 11 June. The French Tennis Federation and US Tennis Association will also meet representatives, while Tennis Australia will not participate in Paris.
