Downtown Portland arts centers need $336 million in deferred maintenance * Oregon ArtsWatch
"While each building has a slightly different story, they all have significant capital needs. The FCAs estimate 30-year capital costs of $83-156 million for Antoinette Hatfield Hall and $87-161 million for the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, and 10-year capital costs of $10-19 million for the Keller Auditorium."
"The assessments also note that several major assets have been replaced or rehabilitated in recent years, and that strong maintenance practices have helped keep systems operational."
Metro released a facility assessment on March 2 identifying significant capital needs for Portland's three city-owned performing arts centers. The Keller Auditorium requires $10-19 million in 10-year maintenance costs, while Antoinette Hatfield Hall needs $83-156 million over 30 years, and the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall requires $87-161 million over 30 years. The total deferred maintenance across all three buildings is approximately $336 million. The assessment comes as the City Council considers whether to renovate or replace the Keller Auditorium and potentially build a new performing arts center at Portland State University. Despite significant needs, the facilities have benefited from recent major asset replacements and strong maintenance practices that have kept systems operational.
