That sense of connection is at the heart of what we do: Music makers in Bend and Corvallis * Oregon ArtsWatch
"Clyde Thompson, the founding director, initially intended the name Central Oregon Mastersingers to be a placeholder, but it has since become a cherished identity for the choir."
"Thompson's journey in music began early, and after pursuing a career in composing, he shifted to choral music, influenced by mentor Dale Warland."
"After earning his master's and doctorate, Thompson taught at Central Oregon Community College, where he directed choirs and fostered a supportive community."
"The upcoming anniversary concert, "We Are The Music Makers," symbolizes the choir's growth and its deep connection to the Bend community over the past two decades."
Clyde Thompson founded the Central Oregon Mastersingers in 2005 as a community choir, initially intending it to be a temporary name. After retiring from teaching at Central Oregon Community College, he gathered local musicians for a concert. Over the years, the choir has become a significant part of the community, now under the direction of Christian Clark. The ensemble will celebrate its 20th anniversary with a concert titled "We Are The Music Makers," reflecting its growth and importance in Bend.
