At North Portland's Nite Hawk, the Patty Melt Is Perfect Every Time
Briefly

Terrance Moses, who relocated to Portland in the mid-'90s, frequents the Nite Hawk diner several days a week, valuing it for its sense of community and familiar faces. As the founder of the nonprofit Friends of Ours, he balances his time between supporting the houseless community and enjoying breakfast and lunch at the diner with his wife. Moses appreciates the consistency of the food and the camaraderie he shares with other patrons, particularly a humorous server named Kenny who adds to the lively atmosphere.
It's the kind of community place that you long for, that neighborhood place that everybody can come to and they know your name. This is a great hub for a lot of folks that just gather and hang out.
If I come in for breakfast, I get my traditional scramble. After lunchtime, I get my patty melt. And it's made the same way every time...two beef patties, caramelized onions, cheddar cheese, in between two pieces of wheat toast.
