DOGE Is Building a Master Database to Surveil and Track Immigrants
Briefly

Operatives from Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) are creating a comprehensive database within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that aggregates immigration records and sensitive data from the IRS, SSA, and voter registrations. This unprecedented data interconnection effort has alarmed experts concerned about potential privacy violations for various populations, particularly undocumented immigrants. Since March, massive amounts of data have been added to an existing USCIS data lake, with indications that the system's purpose is surveillance rather than legitimate fraud detection efforts, as per DHS insiders.
DOGE is knitting together immigration databases from across DHS and uploading data from outside agencies including the Social Security Administration, as well as voting records.
The scale at which DOGE is seeking to interconnect data, including sensitive biometric data, has never been done before, raising alarms with experts.
They are trying to amass a huge amount of data. It has nothing to do with finding fraud or wasteful spending.
Experts fear it may lead to disastrous privacy violations for citizens, certified foreign workers, and undocumented immigrants.
