"Google has recently started scanning and analyzing every email you receive using their Gemini AI."
"This 'feature' has been automatically enabled for all users."
"To disable it, go to settings in your Gmail account, scroll down to 'smart features' and uncheck the box."
"Below that, there's also settings called 'manage workspace smart features'."
Google's Gemini AI now scans and analyzes every email received in Gmail, and the feature is enabled automatically for all users. Disabling the scanning requires opening Gmail settings, locating Smart Features, and unchecking the Smart Features box. An additional control labeled Manage Workspace Smart Features also exists below that setting and controls AI access to Google Workspace content. Turn off Manage Workspace Smart Features to prevent the AI from accessing Google Docs, Drive, and other Workspace files. Verifying both Smart Features and Workspace controls ensures that Gemini AI will not process or access email and Workspace data.
