The recent funding crisis faced by the Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) program has opened doors for the European Union to amplify its own security tracking system. With the US government momentarily ensuring funding for MITRE, which manages the CVE, the European Union has been developing its own European Union Vulnerability Database (EUVD) through ENISA. The EUVD directly addresses the vulnerabilities in technology products, parallel to the US's National Vulnerability Database, and may gain traction as an alternative due to the uncertainties surrounding CVE funding.
"Dependence on the largesse of a single, and now volatile, government48;that's a serious flaw. The CVE funding fiasco is a wake-up call for the industry."
"The EUVD will hopefully gain more traction so that Europe can achieve self-sustainability in this domain as well," said Marcus S derblom.
