The US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency (CISA) has renewed its funding for the Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) program, which assists major tech companies in identifying cybersecurity vulnerabilities. The renewal prevents any lapse in essential services provided by MITRE, the organization managing the CVE system. As part of its future initiatives, CVE board members plan to transition the program to a nonprofit foundation. Although this move may change the governance structure, uncertainties remain regarding the CVE Foundation's continuity after the government contract renewal.
