A Manhattan founder of an AI startup sued Voya Financial, alleging a months-long effort to access personal devices, obtain proprietary AI models, and track movements around a rural Ontario cottage. The alleged activity began after a long-term disability claim and after providing device and location metadata. The complaint alleges that intrusions intensified around December 25–26, 2025, including more than 3 billion dropped packets and activity described as consistent with attempts to wipe traces. It alleges remote-access capabilities to obtain root-level access, access to a GitHub repository on January 9, 2026, and transfer of source code. The lawsuit seeks money damages and an order blocking further use of research, asserting multiple legal claims including computer fraud and trade secret misappropriation.
"The complaint brings 11 counts, including alleged violations of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act and misappropriation of trade secrets, and it seeks damages and injunctive relief tied to investigatory costs and emotional distress."
