Dense fog advisory affecting East Bay Interior Valleys until Thursday morning visibility limited to 1/4 mile
"If a dense fog advisory is issued for your area, it means that widespread dense fog has developed and visibility often drops to just a quarter-mile or less. These conditions can make driving challenging, so exercise extreme caution on the road, and if possible, consider delaying your trip. If driving in fog becomes unavoidable, remember these safety tips: Reduce speed: Slow down and allocate extra time for your trip to reach your destination safely."
"Zero visibility strategy: In extremely dense fog where visibility is near zero, the best course of action is to first turn on your hazard lights, then simply pull into a safe location such as a parking lot of a local business, and stop. No parking options: If no parking area is available, pull your vehicle as far to the roadside as possible."
At 9:04 p.m. Wednesday, the National Weather Service issued a dense fog advisory effective until Thursday, Nov. 27 at 10 a.m. for East Bay Interior Valleys. Visibility can drop to one quarter mile or less, creating hazardous driving conditions. Drivers are advised to slow down, use low-beam headlights (not high beams), and maintain extra following distance. Use fog lights if available and follow lane markings. If visibility reaches near zero, activate hazard lights and pull into a safe parking area; if none exists, pull as far to the roadside as possible and use hazard flashers while minimizing tail light illumination.
