Joella Dunn-Bernstein: Embracing Empowerment in Security
Briefly

Joella Dunn-Bernstein witnessed the tragic events of September 11, 2001, as a 12-year-old in New Jersey. Motivated by a desire to prevent suffering, she earned a Master's Degree in Counterterrorism and Homeland Security. Though encouraged to join government work, she preferred corporate security. Dunn-Bernstein started as a watch officer for The World Bank and became an intelligence analyst for Fortune 50 companies. At The Jewish Federation of Los Angeles, she protected the Jewish community through security initiatives, training, and intelligence gathering.
"I saw a lot of people suffering and I wanted to prevent that from happening again," she recalls.
"There are so many interesting things to do in that sphere," she says.
Dunn-Bernstein was tasked to help protect and prepare the LA Jewish community through intelligence gathering, security training and coordination with law enforcement.
She led active shooter, situational awareness, and digital footprint training.
