San Jose cleared Columbus Park this month, displacing almost 400 people; roughly half accepted shelter offers while many, including RV dwellers, moved elsewhere. Dozens of RVs relocated to private property near Kellanova's Eggo Way facility, and Kellanova reported receiving no city assistance to remove about 20 trespassing RVs. Kellanova hired city-contracted firms Tucker Construction and Valley Services to clear the encampment after intervention stalemated with local police and residents. Santa Clara County Supervisor Betty Duong intervened, and Mayor Matt Mahan and Duong proposed integrating the city's temporary housing network with the county's Coordinated Entry System to speed transitions to permanent supportive housing.
