Under pressure, HHS reinstates hundreds of occupational health workers
Briefly

The Trump administration has reinstated 328 employees at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) after significant opposition from labor groups and Congress. Initially, the agency was set to lose 900 workers, endangering its ability to ensure workplace safety. The reinstatement follows a federal lawsuit initiated by a coal miner and support from West Virginia lawmakers. Although the return of some staff is welcomed, deep cuts to NIOSH's workforce still threaten its mission to protect workers across various sectors, including construction and healthcare.
Deep cuts to NIOSH remain "I welcome the return of some NIOSH scientists, but this isn't the NIOSH that all American workers need," said Dr. Robert Harrison.
Altogether 328 employees at NIOSH were reinstated... Kennedy did say the rehired workers were based at NIOSH facilities in Morgantown, W.Va., and Cincinnati.
