WHO launches new Collaborating Centre on Alcohol Policy and Public Health Research
Briefly

The WHO has announced the designation of the Institute for Social Marketing and Health at the University of Stirling as a WHO Collaborating Centre focused on alcohol policy and public health research. This Centre, which specializes in aiding low- and middle-income countries, aims to address the growing alcohol-related health issues and develop effective policies. In working with WHO, it will generate critical research to inform alcohol licensing and marketing regulations, ultimately seeking to reduce the health impacts of alcohol consumption, especially among young populations in these regions.
"The time is now to tackle the harm caused by alcohol consumption and to empower decision-makers with the evidence and practical tools they need to drive meaningful change that will save lives..."
"As harm from alcohol consumption continues to grow in many parts of the world, we are proud to partner with ISMH - an institution with an impressive track record of research that has directly contributed to alcohol policy innovation and public health improvement."
