Man City's Donnarumma: Vinicius 'should try and make everyone love him'

"He's a champion and should be loved by everyone. I told him that. He's played two great games, but I think someone like him should be loved by everyone. He should try to make everyone love him because he's a champion."

Following Real Madrid's 2-1 victory over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, Gianluigi Donnarumma addressed Vinícius Junior's celebrations, particularly his stoppage-time goal celebration in front of City fans. Vinícius scored twice, including a penalty with a mock-crying gesture referencing a City banner from February. Donnarumma approached Vinícius after his second goal and later stated that a player of his quality should be loved by everyone rather than engaging in provocative celebrations. Manchester City played most of the match with ten men after Bernardo Silva's red card for handling a Vinícius shot. Despite 22 shots and a goal from Erling Haaland, City could not mount a comeback, with Real Madrid progressing 5-1 on aggregate to the Champions League quarter-finals.
