'It feels like we're being ignored' - family facing eviction after council puts tenant-in-situ scheme on hold
Briefly

A landlord decided to sell a three-bedroom house, prompting eviction proceedings for Evan and Nadia Kavanagh and their three young daughters. The family applied to South Dublin County Council's tenant-in-situ scheme and provided documents in April, but SDCC informed them in July it could not complete the purchase. SDCC paused further applications earlier this month because the scheme budget was exhausted, joining other Dublin councils that paused purchases and affecting around 41 houses. The Kavanaghs face eviction on September 6. The middle child has Level 3 autism and attends an SNA unit, making relocation highly disruptive.
"I was at work when the landlord knocked on our door and gave us the eviction notice. He just apologised to my wife. "My wife called me, crying. I was in the middle of work and unable to believe it was really happening. "It's a very stressful situation. Our middle child is diagnosed with Level 3 autism."
"We spent three years trying to get a diagnosis for her, and it was only last year that we got her into a Special Needs Assistant (SNA) unit. She's come a long way and we can't bear the idea of moving too far away from this school "
