Many Buena Vista residents to be relocated for utility work
"Most residents of Buena Vista Mobile Home Park in Palo Alto will be forced to move out of their homes for eight months while utility lines running through the park are upgraded, according to the Santa Clara County Housing Authority. The Housing Authority informed residents of the Buena Vista Mobile Home Park that they will have to move out by February as the complex's utilities are renovated, said Director of Real Estate Flaherty Ward."
"The 49 households northeast of the complex's parking lot - the side closer to El Camino Real - will be forced to relocate as construction is completed. The 14 households to the side of the parking lot closest to La Donna Avenue will be allowed to stay. The Housing Authority says it will cover the costs of moving and rent during construction, which it estimates will take eight months. During that time, it will replace water, sewer, electric and gas infrastructure at the 4.5-acre complex, located at 3980 El Camino Real."
"In September, the Housing Authority announced it was abandoning plans to redevelop the complex and instead opted to replace utility lines. The Housing Authority received state funds for the project, which it will lose if it's not completed by fall of 2026, Ward said. The Housing Authority purchased the park alongside the city of Palo Alto in 2017 for $40 million. At the time, the previous owner intended to sell the property to a developer who planned to evict its tenants."

Forty-nine households on the side closer to El Camino Real will be required to relocate; 14 households on the La Donna Avenue side may remain. The Housing Authority will cover moving expenses and rent during construction. Work will replace water, sewer, electric, and gas infrastructure across the 4.5-acre site at 3980 El Camino Real. State funds support the project but must be used by fall 2026. The Housing Authority and the city purchased the park in 2017 for $40 million.
