A college freshman discovered dozens of his childhood stuffed animals and toys arranged in the hallway as a farewell before leaving for school. The display included teddy bears, Minion plushies, Mickey Mouse and a rocking horse, plus a handwritten note reading "We love you." The TikTok post showing the surprise has been viewed more than 40 million times and prompted emotional reactions from viewers. The mother gathered photos and toys from storage for weeks and arranged them in the order he received them on the morning he left. The student is a first-year at Loyola University in Chicago planning to pursue dermatology.
Down the hallway, neatly arranged against the walls were dozens of the teenager's stuffed animals and childhood toys. Beloved teddy bears, 'Despicable Me' Minion plushies, Mickey Mouse and even a rocking horse were carefully positioned for a final farewell to childhood. A handwritten note on the floor read, 'We love you.' The combination of his mom's gesture and the song Ben Szram added to the background of the video - "Slipping Through My Fingers" performed by the "Mamma Mia!" movie cast.
"I know he's not that far, but it's far enough for me, and I know his life will change after he walks out of the door of our house," his mom, Kathy Szram, told NBC Chicago. "I wanted to create a good memory for him." For weeks, Kathy Szram gathered old photos and childhood toys, including teddy bears and a rocking horse, pulling them out of storage.
