Pentagon official, who was sidelined after removal of Jackie Robinson post, resigns
Briefly

John Ullyot, previously the Pentagon's acting top spokesman, has resigned after being sidelined due to the controversial removal of a Department of Defense website celebrating Jackie Robinson. His resignation follows a meeting with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth where Ullyot could not secure a desirable position, asserting his preference not to be a subordinate in public affairs. Despite the tensions surrounding his decisions related to the removal of the Robinson article, Ullyot continues to express support for Secretary Hegseth and the Defense Department's commitment to honoring impactful historical figures such as Robinson.
I made clear to Secretary [Pete] Hegseth before the inauguration that I was not interested in being number two to anyone in public affairs.
Last month, as that time approached, the Secretary and I talked and could not come to an agreement on another good fit for me at DOD.
Everyone at the Defense Department loves Jackie Robinson, as well as the Navajo Code Talkers, the Tuskegee airmen, the Marines at Iwo Jima.
