The ranking used five quality-of-life indicators: air quality, biodiversity and habitat, environmental factors, happiness, and water and sanitation. Finland ranked first in happiness and water and sanitation and scored well for air quality, achieving an overall quality-of-life score of 89 percent for 2025. Norway, Iceland, Sweden, and Denmark round out the top five, with Luxembourg at No. 6 and the United States at No. 25. The index also evaluated financial readiness, access to financial services, healthcare quality, and environmental cleanliness and safety; when combining those factors, Norway topped the overall list. Survey results showed 21 percent of people would need a miracle to feel secure retiring, while 69 percent of Americans believe the world feels unstable and fear financial impacts.
