David Rose, a 33-year-old former Marine, was killed by a gunman outside the CDC in Atlanta on August 8. He bravely attempted to intervene when shots were fired during an incident at a CVS. Rose was a dedicated officer, husband, and father of two, with another child on the way. His actions exemplified valor as he ran toward danger. The shooter was a 30-year-old man suffering from depression. Rose's death has sparked tremendous community support, including a GoFundMe that raised nearly $500,000 for his family, while a memorial was erected in his honor.
Officer Rose was a Marine. He offered to go fight for his country and he learned and was taught and trained to run toward the battle and to take it to the enemy.
That's my son, he would step in front of them again. If you lined him up again and said, 'this is what's going to happen,' he'd say, 'well, someone is going to have to do it.'
