Ukrainian forces are employing remotely controlled ground robots equipped with explosives to target Russian positions effectively. These Uncrewed Ground Vehicles (UGVs) can carry significantly heavier payloads than aerial drones, providing a tactical advantage. Oleksandr Yabchanka from the Da Vinci Wolves Battalion notes that these robots can transport over 48 pounds of explosives, enabling them to deliver substantial damage while keeping operators safe. This strategy reflects an evolution in combat techniques, as Ukraine strives to maintain a technological edge in its defense efforts against Russia's invasion.
Oleksandr Yabchanka, the head of the robotic systems for Ukraine's Da Vinci Wolves Battalion, said that their ground robots can carry explosives weighing over 48 pounds, enhancing their lethality significantly compared to aerial drones.
He emphasized the importance of staying ahead of the enemy in destructive capabilities, noting, "We need to always be one step, half a step ahead of the enemy in terms of the powers of destruction."
The UGVs allow Ukrainian soldiers to remain at a distance from combat while still delivering high-impact explosive payloads, a tactical advantage in the ongoing conflict.
Yabchanka further explained that the ground robots serve a similar function to aerial drones, but their payload capacity allows for greater versatility and impact in ground operations.
