Bay Area Book Festival coming back to downtown Berkeley for 11th year
Briefly

The 11th annual Bay Area Book Festival, taking place on May 31 and June 1 in downtown Berkeley, will feature a range of literary events, from children's activities to headliner presentations by renowned authors. Planned by the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria, the festival aims to create a supportive space for discussing important societal issues, particularly in light of rising authoritarianism. With a focus on community engagement, this year’s festival includes musical introductions and various free and ticketed offerings. Executive director J.K. Fowler emphasizes the importance of generated dialogues around complex topics.
"Our panels center on creating communities of care, fighting back against authoritarianism and autocracy, facing all of the divisive forces at the moment."
"After 11 years, we aren't shy about holding necessary, complicated conversations. We hope to foster new ideas rooted in literature and the power of narrative."
