Absolute Empress L Khmera Rouge created the event and Absolute Empress LI Emma Peel organized it this year. An annual gala in Golden Gate Park at the AIDS Memorial Grove features candles, the Circle of Friends, scenic pathways, and a large tent with food, wine, and a program that marks loss, remembrance, and hope. A Gilead representative said, "San Francisco turned grief into activism." Race Bannon accepted a Lifetime of Commitment Award, Sister Roma emceed, and Nancy Pelosi was introduced as a longstanding advocate who prioritized AIDS policy.
