Oaklash, founded in 2018, began as a drag performance festival uniting artists from the Bay Area. Originating from a rich history of community-driven performance, it has now transitioned into a nonprofit organization with a focus on uplifting queer and trans artists. By 2023, Oaklash has developed guiding principles centered on accessibility, equity, and sustainability, while launching a residency program that supports marginalized performers through financial resources and mentorship, helping them to reach broader audiences in various artistic spaces.
This is one of our coolest growth opportunities. We're helping artists move from the nightclub into the theater, into galleries, and into public space.
We're setting the standard for the nightlife scene that we want to see here in the Bay Area.
