However, his views on the LGBTQ+ community remain unclear, though he expressed discontent in 2021 regarding Western media's acceptance of non-traditional family structures. Michael O'Loughlin, executive director of Outreach, believes that Leo XIV’s name choice signals a commitment to social justice and pastoral outreach, reminiscent of Pope Francis' impactful tenure.
