Trader Joe's Customers Can't Handle How Sour This Spring Candy Is - Tasting Table
Briefly

Trader Joe's sour strawberry candy belts have gained popularity for being exceptionally sour compared to other candies offered by the store. Customers on Reddit praise their sourness, with many claiming they really deliver on the 'sour test.' While they enjoy the intense flavor that builds as you chew, some users warn about their addictive nature, suggesting they might end up overeating, which could lead to discomfort. The candy's sourness is attributed to citric acid, a common ingredient that enhances the tart taste, making these belts a distinctive treat.
I got these this morning and these are actually sour. And I've eaten like 5-6 and now my mouth feels like I just ate some sour skittles.
They get sour as you eat them. lol I didn't think they were sour at first but then I started chewing it and found it pretty sour, a little less sour than a sour patch kid.
Beware these are very addictive. I would not get them because I'll eat the whole box (not in one sitting but quickly) and my teeth would hurt.
Citric acid... is known as an acidulant. It increases the acidity of foods, creating that tart or sour taste on the tongue that's so addictive when combined with sugar.
