A 15-year-old Dublin schoolgirl died in a drowning tragedy at Burrow Beach in Howth on the first hot day of summer. Pupils from Trinity Comprehensive School formed a guard of honour at her funeral at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Ballymun. Family and friends gathered wearing pink ribbons, ties, and scarves, with many mourners displaying pink balloons on their cars and T-shirts featuring her photo and the words “Our Pep.” Her family described her as determined and full of character, remembering her smile, her strong will, and the way she brought energy to their home. She is survived by her parents and brothers.
"Heartbroken pupils from Trinity Comprehensive School formed a guard of honour for Abbie (15) at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Ballymun in north Dublin on Friday as family and friends gathered wearing pink ribbons, ties and scarves."
"Abbie had been with friends at Burrow Beach in Howth on the first hot day of the summer when she got into difficulty in the water. She is survived by her parents Mandy and Wayne, brothers Leon, Aaron, and Warren, and wider circle of family and friends."
"Her grieving family paid tribute to her as a girl who was well able to do battle with her brothers and fight her corner. Aaron thanked everybody in the Ballymun community for coming together with them during a very difficult time to give Abbie a good send-off."
"“She always got her way. I'll miss my crazy Abbie” He read out a tribute from their mother Mandy who thanked Abbie for every moment she gave her over the past 15 years, saying she would miss everything about 'Crabby Abbie' as she goes home to be with the other angels."
