
A teenage girl drowned while swimming at Burrow Beach near Howth, north Dublin. Her body was recovered after a search operation involving the Coast Guard, Gardaí, and Howth’s RNLI. The girl was locally named as Abbie Carmody-Pepper. She was described in a death notice as the beloved daughter of Mandy and Wayne and the beloved sister of Leon, Aaron, and Warren. She had been visiting the beach with friends when the incident occurred. Family members and local relatives expressed shock and sadness and requested privacy. Reposing took place at Rom Massey & Sons Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Mass at the Church of the Holy Spirit and burial in Dardistown Cemetery. Gardaí assisted the Coast Guard in removing the body from the water and the scene.
"In a statement on Monday morning, a spokesperson said gardaí assisted the Coast Guard in a search operation at Howth, Co. Dublin on Sunday evening. "The body of a female juvenile teen was removed from the water at Burrow Beach by the Coast Guard. The body has been removed from the scene," they added."
