Great America marks its 49th year; water park opens for Memorial Day weekend
Briefly

Great America's iconic theme park, celebrating its 49th season, may close as early as 2028 due to land redevelopment. Known for its classic double-decker carousel, the park is emphasizing its popular rides like Flight Deck and Gold Striker while shortening the 2025 season. Guests can still enjoy access to South Bay Shores waterpark, movie nights, and fireworks. A concert at the Redwood Amphitheater will also mark its return to hosting musical acts, starting with rapper LaRussell. With its future uncertain, fans are encouraged to enjoy the park's beloved attractions soon.
Following a 2022 sale of the land on which the park operates, Great America could close as soon as 2028.
The park also will continue to offer guests access to South Bay Shores waterpark, making it the only amusement park in Northern California that includes access to a waterpark with park admission.
