"On the afternoon of Feb. 27, 26-year-old Emily Panuco and her son arrived at her mother's home to see several puppies that were in a cardboard box. The mother of the puppies, along with two other adult dogs, were also on the property. When Panuco's son went to pet the puppies, all three dogs attacked him."
"When Panuco jumped in to protect her son, she was bitten several times. She was later pronounced dead as a result of the attack, and the child was sent to a local hospital with two "severe" bites."
""The shock and pain of this event have left the family reeling, and they are in need of support from their community," a GoFundMe for the family says, describing Panuco's death as an "unimaginable loss.""
On February 27, Emily Panuco and her 5-year-old son visited her mother's home in Big River, California to see puppies. When the child approached the puppies in a cardboard box, the mother dog and two other adult dogs attacked him. Panuco immediately intervened to protect her son and was bitten multiple times during the attack. She died from her injuries, while her son sustained two severe bites and was hospitalized but later released. The three dogs were subsequently euthanized. The investigation remains ongoing.
