Student artists create winning visions of future transit
Briefly

Fremont school students participated in Assemblymember Alex Lee's 2025 Youth Art Contest, creating artwork centered on the 'Riding Future Transit' theme. Winning pieces included a futuristic flying vehicle by Amanda Chen, a flying bus using trash as fuel by Nayanica Mishra, and an air balloon bus by Mia Zhang. In another initiative, the Santa Clara County Library District updated its StoryWalk in Murphy Park, transitioning from Diana Murray's 'Someday, Maybe' to Carol Diggory Shields' 'The Bugliest Bug', engaging families with interactive storytelling and performances.
Amanda Chen, a freshman at Mission San José High School, created an artwork depicting a futuristic flying vehicle to highlight future transportation's inclusiveness and technological advancements.
Mia Zhang, a first-grader at Lila Bringhurst Elementary School, illustrated her dream future transit in the form of an air balloon bus.
The installation featured 17 panels circling the children's playground in Murphy Park, each depicting a page from "Someday, Maybe" by Diana Murray.
Children and their families who turned out to the park on Saturday walked around the playground to read and follow the new story.
